Saka Features As Arsenal Miss Out On Europe In League Terms After Loss To Aston Villa
Published: July 21, 2020
With one game to go in the Premier League, Arsenal have missed out on European football for next season in league terms following their 1-0 defeat suffered at the hands of Aston Villa in their last away game of the season, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The defeat leaves Mikel Arteta's side tenth in the table and five points off seventh-placed Tottenham Hotspur heading into the final game of the season.
Bukayo Saka returned to the Gunners starting lineup and was in action for an hour before making way for Kieran Tierney.
On 27 minutes, Trezeguet volleyed the ball into the back of the net to secure all three points for the home team.
Five minutes after the restart, Saka had a chance to restore parity but instead he fired over the crossbar and Edward Nketiah came agonizingly close when his header bounced off the post thirteen minutes from time.
For the first time in twenty-five years, Arsenal will finish outside the top six but can still qualify for the Europa League if they win the FA Cup final against Chelsea on August 1.
