Arsenal Manager Arteta Promotes 18-Year-old Nigerian Right Back To First Team Training
Published: December 12, 2020
Promising right-back Ryan Alebiosu could be the next teenager of Nigerian descent to make his professional debut for Arsenal in the 2020-2021 season, after striker Folarin Balogun and central midfielder Miguel Azeez.
According to Arsenal youth team expert Jeorge Bird via his website, the Hale End Academy graduate was invited to train with Arsenal first team by manager Mikel Arteta on Friday ahead of the upcoming game against Burnley.
Balogun and Azeez, who were both featured off the bench in the 4-2 hammering of Dundalk in the Europa League, were also involved in the workout upon the team's return to the English capital.
Arsenal could be preparing Alebiosu for a first team debut with the fixtures coming thick and fast.
The north London club have seven games coming up in the next three weeks, starting with Sunday's home game against the Clarets.
Alebiosu has been on the books of the Emirates Stadium outfit since the age of seven and inked his first professional contract, a two-year deal in August, with Arsenal holding an option to extend by a further two years.
This season, the 18-year-old has appeared in ten games in all competitions for Arsenal's youth teams, including six starts in the Premier League 2.
