Chelsea block transfer of talented Nigerian striker to Dutch club
Published: August 29, 2021
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Premier League side Chelsea have blocked the potential transfer of Flying Eagles hopeful Bryan Fiabema to a Dutch club in the summer transfer window.
The unnamed Dutch club had intended to sign the Norwegian born striker of Nigerian descent on a season-long loan, only for their approaches to be rebuffed by the powers that be at the European champions.
Chelsea higher-ups decided it would be best for Fiabema to continue his development with the U23 squad.
Since his celebrated move to Stamford Bridge in February 2020, the Norwegian-Nigerian attacker has not experienced first-team football and his minders thought it was best for him to be loaned out.
Fiabema began his Chelsea career with the U18s, totaling nine appearances with three goals, before earning full promotion to the development squad.
When Fiabema made his senior debut for Tromso on July 14, 2019 aged 16 years, 4 months and 28 days, he had been the youngest player of Nigerian descent to feature in the Norwegian Eliteserien until the record was surpassed by Stabaek's Antonio Nusa in May 2021.
The 2003-born striker opened his account for the season in Chelsea's win on penalties against Exeter City in the Papa John's Trophy five days ago.
