Nottingham Forest submit N2.7billion bid for Super Eagles star
Published: August 30, 2021
EFL Championship club Nottingham Forest are working on a deal to sign Super Eagles striker Josh Maja on transfer deadline day.
According to influential French sports newspaper L'Equipe, the former Sunderland star is expected to leave Bordeaux before the window closes and Forest are in the driving seat for his signature.
The English second-tier have made an offer worth 4.5 million euros (approximately N2.7billion) to bring Maja back to England, two and a half years after his departure from the Black Cats.
Royal Excel Mouscron, Bordeaux's sister club, have also been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old.
Maja is angling for a move away from Bordeaux due to a lack of playing opportunities with the Ligue 1 club.
The last of his 48 appearances for Les Girondins was against FC Lorient back in January.
The young attacker spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham, playing 15 games in the Premier League, but the purchase option in his contract was not triggered after the Cottagers were relegated to the Championship.
