Racing Genk technical director Dimitri de Condé has revealed that playing in the English Premier League is one of the ambitions of Paul Onuachu.
Almost everyone expected the Nigeria international to move on to pastures new after scoring 35 goals and providing five assists in 41 appearances across all competitions in 2020-2021 but a transfer did not happen.
Onuachu was offered to the likes of West Ham United and Brighton & Hove in the recently concluded transfer window but none of the English top-flight teams firmed up their interest in the tall striker by making an official bid for his services.
Reflecting on the transfer window, de Condé told Genk's official website via Voetbalkrant : "As a club, we had made an agreement with Jhon Lucumi and Paul Onuachu to cooperate on a transfer, but that did not come about in the end.
"And to be honest we as a club should certainly not be sad about that.
"It should help us to fully realize our ambitions: compete for the very highest. Paul has the dream to play football in the Premier League, but it didn't happen...."

Condé explained that Cyriel Dessers had to be loaned out to Feyenoord after it became clear that Onuachu was going to remain at Genk.
