Two Nigerian internationals ruled out of Leicester City's Europa League clash against Legia Warsaw
Published: September 29, 2021
Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers will not be able to count on the services of Nigeria internationals Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi when his side face Polish giants Legia Warsaw at the Marshall Józef Piłsudski's Municipal Stadium on Thursday evening.
It was known beforehand that Ndidi was not available for selection after he was shown a red card in the closing minutes on matchday one against Napoli.
Rodgers has revealed that Iheanacho is not with the squad due to an issue with his traveling document.
The Northern Irishman stated at the pre-match press conference: "We’ve had an issue with Kelechi.
"His documentation coming into the
country wasn’t suffice, so unfortunately he isn’t available to play,
which is a shame because he would have played in the game.
"He will be unavailable for the game. The paperwork didn’t allow him
into the country. It’s unfortunate, but we’ll have to look into that
when we get back."
Super Eagles hopeful Ademola Lookman is seemingly in contention to feature against Legia as he was spotted boarding the plane to the Polish capital.
Leicester City threw away a two-goal lead in their Europa League opener, drawing 2-2 with Napoli at the King Power Stadium.
