'Osimhen is very good' - Former Barcelona star heaps praise on Napoli striker
Published: September 30, 2021
Former Barcelona defender and 1998 World Cup winner with France, Lilian Thuram has lavished praise on Victor Osimhen, labeling him a 'very good' player.
Thuram revealed that he has been keeping tabs on the Nigeria international since his time with French club Lille.
Osimhen has impressed in 2021 after struggling with injuries and Covid-19 related issues in the first half of last season, and his current form has not gone unnoticed by several pundits and former players who continue to sing his praises.
Should the number 9 find the net in Napoli's Europa League meeting against Spartak Moscow on Thursday, he will have registered his name on the scoresheet in five consecutive matches for the first time in his professional career.
Barely three years ago, Osimhen was declared surplus to requirements at Wolfsburg but has put the disappointment behind him and is now a key player for club and country.
"Osimhen is very good, fast and has a sense of goal. No wonder he scores so many goals in Naples, I had already seen him in Lille," Thuram said to Mattino via 100x100napoli.it.
"Victor, for his story, can be an example for all those who want to make a dream come true."
Osimhen is one of six players classed as strikers named in the latest Nigeria squad for next month's World Cup qualifying matches against Central African Republic.
