'We watched these Super Eagles well' - CAR coach Savoy hints at using the same tactics
Central African Republic manager Raoul Savoy has hinted at using the same tactics he used in the first leg when his side face Nigeria in a 2022 World Cup qualifier on Sunday afternoon.

In the matchday three clash at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, the Spanish-Swiss football tactician prepared a defensive game plan, playing with up to eight players behind the ball, while catching the Super Eagles on the break.

Savoy has done his homework on the Nigeria team, using video sessions to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the three-time African champions.

His tactical plan paid off in the first leg as the Wild Beasts created two or three chances, one of which was utilized by Karl Namnganda in the 90th minute, while maintaining their defensive solidity.

On his tactics for the second leg, Savoy said to Africa Foot United : "Tactically, we watched these Super Eagles well. Our video analysts got the job done.

"We put a plan, a strategy in relation to all that. The players saw the video, we talked about it, we also worked in training to put in a tactical system.

"But after all, the tactical system is all well and good, the animation too, but if the players are not 200% of agreement with you and especially if they are not ready physically and mentally, the plan is there, goes downhill.

"There, the advantage is that the players followed the plan, they put their heart and desire to see us through to the end.

"At the tactical level, I'm not going to talk about it because we have a second game.

"We are not going to invent football in three days, it will be the same characteristics, except for one or two details that I will keep to myself."

After three matches in Group C of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Nigeria lead the way with six points accumulated, followed by Cape Verde and Central African Republic who are two points behind in second place.
