'I scored 33 goals' - Genk striker Onuachu left baffled over failed move to Premier League

Racing Genk striker Paul Onuachu thought a move to the English Premier League was definitely on the cards after ending the 2020-2021 campaign with 33 goals and taking home the Golden Boot award.
To add to that accolade, the Nigeria national teamer was named Belgian Professional Footballer of the Year and Ebony Shoe winner.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can report again that Onuachu was offered to several clubs outside the top six in England but none were interested enough to make an official bid to Genk.
In quotes relayed by Voetbal Primeur citing Belgian tabloid HUMO, Onuachu explained : "It was one of the most difficult periods of my life. All that stress… I felt ready for the big step, but no offer came.
"Was something going on behind my back? Was it the amount Genk had put on me? Honestly, I don't know. Nobody understands.
"Corona, they tell me. Come on, I don't believe that! I scored 33 goals: then you're always gone, aren't you?"
It is thought that attempts to bring in the 27-year-old Onuachu to the Premier League failed due to his age as he would have been offered a long-term contract and has no resale value.
Regarding his failed departure from Genk, the Nigeria international contradicted the reports, insisting that his age had no influence on a transfer.
Onuachu added : "For someone who scores so many goals, the clubs normally line up, no matter how old you are. Anyway, it doesn't bother me anymore. I let it go."
Manager David Moyes revealed midweek that West Ham were not actively pursuing Onuachu in the summer transfer window.
