Camp update : Aribo and Villarreal winger Chukwueze link up with Nigeria squad in Abuja
Published: January 05, 2022
The number of players in the Super Eagles camp has increased by two ahead of the national team's departure to
Garoua, Cameroon for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
There are now twenty five players in camp following the arrival of Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo and Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze.
Aribo linked up with the squad last night while Chukwueze touched down in the nation's capital on Wednesday morning.
The 2015 U17 World Cup winner made his second consecutive start in La Liga less than fifteen hours ago, playing for 73 minutes in a 5-0 rout of Levante and set up the opening goal scored by Boulaye Dia.
Jamilu Collins (SC Padeborn), Tyronne Ebuehi (Venezia) and Al-Shabab frontman Odion Ighalo were the players still being expected to join the team at the time of this report.
The Venezia president has given his word that Ebeuhi will jet out to Garoua immediately after the Serie A meeting with Salernitana on Thursday evening but Ighalo's Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab are still refusing to release the striker to the Nigeria Football Federation.
