'He would have scored three to four goals' - Chukwueze admits he misses Osimhen at AFCON
Published: January 17, 2022Samuel Chukwueze has admitted that he misses his pal Victor Osimhen at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, saying the Napoli striker would have scored at least three goals if he were with the national team in Cameroon.
Originally handed the Super Eagles number 9 shirt, Osimhen was forced to withdraw from the Africa Cup of Nations roster after testing positive for Covid-19 and before then there was a club versus country row over his release to the Nigeria Football Federation as he had been recovering from surgery.
The 2015 U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner was the joint-top scorer for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with five goals and was the leading marksman for the Super Eagles in 2022 World Cup qualifying with four goals.
"Nobody will not miss Victor because he is a beast on the field of play, I miss him," Chukwueze said after the recovery session on Sunday.
"I wish he was here, I think by now we would have been scoring three to four goals, so many goals."

Chukwueze has now scored in back-to-back AFCON tournaments after getting on the scoresheet in Nigeria's 3-1 win over Sudan on Saturday.
The Villarreal winger says he is keen to be involved in more goals as the tournament progresses
"I need to get more goals and assist, I need to do more for the success of the team, it is not only one goal that I will score at this tournament.
"I already set my target for the tournament, the goals and assists I need to get."
