Eguavoen to drill players on converting chances ahead of AFCON clash against Guinea-Bissau
Published: January 17, 2022Nigeria's caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has revealed that the Super Eagles players will be drilled on how to convert their chances ahead of their next Africa Cup of Nations match against Guinea Bissau.
In their first two matches in Cameroon, the three-time African champions have played a total of thirty-two shots with only four ending in the back of the net - a shot conversion rate of 12.5 percent.
From their thirteen shots on target combined against Egypt and Sudan, the Super Eagles have a conversion rate of 30.77 percent.
Twenty shots were taken inside the penalty area, four in the six-yard box and eight were from outside the box.
Statistically, Union Berlin striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been the most guilty of not taking his chances, managing just one goal from his nine shots.
Speaking to reporters, Eguavoen said : "We will do that, not we will try to do it, we just have to do it but you know if it is not in you it is not in you.
"It comes with instinct but it's just to constantly remind them and work drills of converting chances and then hopefully they will take that into the next game."

He added : "With what we have right now we will change a little bit of how we play and these guys are also equal to the task but everybody has different qualities".
The Super Eagles are scheduled to have their penultimate workout this evening ahead of their clash against Guinea-Bissau.
