Eight things to note on Nigeria's starting lineup to face Guinea-Bissau

Nigeria's caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has announced his starting lineup for Wednesday evening's 2021 Africa Cup of Nations match against Guinea-Bissau.
The Super Eagles are aiming to become the only team to finish the group stage with a hundred percent record.

1) The eleven players have an average age of 25.27 years, with Semi Ajayi and William Troost-Ekong the oldest at 28.
2) Eguavoen has made eight changes from the side that defeated Egypt and Sudan. The three holdovers are Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho.
3) Orlando Pirates center back Olisa Ndah would become the third different former U23 player to make a senior debut since the appointment of Eguavoen as caretaker coach if he comes off the bench, following in the footsteps of Kelechi Nwakali and Umar Sadiq.
4) Two Spanish-based players in Nwakali and Sadiq are making their starting debuts for the senior national team.
5) Four players are aged 24 and younger : Nwakali, Sadiq, Francis Uzoho, Chidera Ejuke
6) Joe Aribo and Ola Aina are on yellow cards and have been omitted from the matchday 23 to avoid them being suspended for the round of sixteen clash on Sunday, January 23.
7) Seven of the outfield players are aiming to score their first goal in Super Eagles colours : Ebuehi, Ajayi, Collins, Ndidi, Nwakali, Ejuke, Sadiq.
8) Wilfred Ndidi is making his tenth consecutive appearance for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, overtaking Ahmed Musa in the current squad. The Super Eagles captain played nine straight matches for the national team - the semifinals and final of AFCON 2013 and all the seven matches in AFCON 2019 before the streak ended vs Egypt.
