Chelsea were denied a win late on after conceding in the 87th minute as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Reading in an U18 Premier League match on Wednesday afternoon.
Chelsea U18 boss Ed Brand rested several players of Nigerian descent for the trip to Berkshire, with goalkeeper Prince Adegoke, fullbacks Derrick Abu and Richard Olise, and striker Louis Flower not included in the matchday squad.
First year scholar Mendel Idowu started for the Blues, while Princewill Ehibhatiomhan started for the Young Royals.
After he was denied by the post, Ehibhatiomhan scored a 38th minute opener, via a deflection.
In the second half, Chelsea came from behind to take the lead after goals from Silcott-Duberry and Castledine, before Giscombe leveled matters from the spot.
Anglo-Nigerian midfielder Chinonso Chibueze came off the bench to make his competitive debut for Chelsea in stoppage time.
Today's encounter against Reading was his first ever squad involvement for Chelsea U18s.
Chibueze was the captain of the Chelsea U14 side that won the PL-ISL Next Generation Mumbai Cup in February 2020.
