Arsenal monitoring situation of Aston Villa's Anglo-Austrian-Nigerian wonderkid
Published: March 17, 2022
Arsenal are reportedly monitoring the situation of Aston Villa's Anglo-Austrian-Nigerian wonderkid Carney Chukwuemeka as they contemplate making a move for the midfielder in the summer transfer window.
The Sun is reporting that the England U19 international is drawing interest from the Gunners and Borussia Dortmund ahead of a potential bid for one of the exciting teenagers in English football.
Chukwuemeka will enter the last one year of his contract with Aston Villa in the summer and is not keen to sign a new deal due to a lack of first team opportunities.
It is believed that the 18-year-old has found game time hard to come by in recent weeks due to his contract situation.
He has not tasted action for Aston Villa first team since February 13 when he played the last five minutes of a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United.
Arsenal want to reinforce their midfield with the future of AS Roma target Granit Xhaka up in the air and have sent their scouts to run the rule over Chukwuemeka this season.
Chukwuemeka was the standout player as Aston Villa won the FA Youth Cup in May 2021, finishing as the competition's top scorer with seven goals, and was awarded Academy Player of the Season.
