Ex-Golden Eaglets invitee Ebiowei to make decision on his future after Derby County's relegation
Published: April 18, 2022
Malcolm Ebiowei suffered relegation with Derby County on Easter Monday after a 1-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers.
The Rams, coached by Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, had a tough task on their hands to avoid the drop after they were slapped with a 21-point deduction for breaching English Football League rules.
Two minutes from time, Anglo-Nigerian midfielder Luke Amos netted the game-winning goal for the Hoops, firing past goalkeeper Allsop after a counter attack.
Ebiowei joined the Derby County academy from Glasgow Rangers in September 2021, signing a deal until the end of the 2021-2022 season.
On the pitch, the exciting left-footed attacking midfielder has impressed to be offered a new deal to keep him at Pride Park beyond the end of this season, but could be eyeing a move following the relegation of Derby County to the third tier.
Within five months of his arrival, he forced his way into the first team and has racked up thirteen Championship appearances.
Having put himself in the shop window, Ebiowei has a decision to make on his next career move.
The 18-year-old was named in Nigeria's provisional squad list for the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup held in Brazil.
