'They're the worst players to face' - Warri-born ex-Man City star hails Thiago Silva's display vs West Ham
Published: April 24, 2022
Warri-born former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha was pleased with Thiago Silva's dominant display during Chelsea's 1-0 win over West Ham in a Premier League match at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
Having conceded eight goals combined in their last two home games before the visit of the Hammers, manager Thomas Tuchel has to thank the experienced Brazilian center-back for helping the Blues keep their first clean sheet in three matches om home soil.
According to stats from Whoscored, Silva had more touches of the ball (122), completed more passes (101), and made more clearances (2) than any other Chelsea player on the pitch.
And those stats prove that Onuoha was spot on in his assessment of the Chelsea number 6, shortly after the game.
Speaking on BBC 5 Live, Onuoha said : "Thiago is brilliant when you see someone trying to press him from behind.
"He knows exactly where he is, he's toying with him; before you know it, there is a drop of the shoulder, a move to the side and he's cleared them.
"They are the worst players to face."
Onuoha made ten Premier League appearances against Chelsea before hanging up his boots, scoring one goal against them during the 2010-2011 season while wearing the colours of Sunderland.
