Former Watford striker Ighalo not joining Getafe or Monaco this summer
Published: April 27, 2022
Speculation linking former Watford and Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo with possible moves to La Liga side Getafe and French Ligue 1 club AS Monaco in the summer is wide of the mark, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.
It was erroneously claimed that Spanish manager Quique Sanchez Flores was eyeing a reunion with Ighalo, whom he worked with at Watford and Shanghai Shenhua.
Getafe and Monaco have not directly approached Ighalo and his minders over a transfer and if that were to happen in the future, he has no plans whatsoever to quit his Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal in the summer.
The experienced attacker joined Al Hilal in January and it doesn't make sense for him to be on the move again less than five months into his contract.
Ighalo has been in the best form of his career so far this season, scoring 25 goals combined for Al Shabab and Al Hilal, his best return in a single season.
He broke a Nigerian transfer record following his move to Al
Hilal by becoming the most expensive player above the age of
thirty acquired by a club, that is if only permanent transfers are
counted.
