Super Eagles winger instrumental in Leicester City's 1-1 draw Against Jose Mourinho's Roma
Published: April 28, 2022
Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman continues to be a huge success at Leicester City and was the orchestrator of the Premier League side's goal on Thursday night in their 1-1 draw against Jose Mourinho's AS Roma in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League semifinal clash at the King Power Stadium.
The 2017 U20 World Cup winner with England started and was in action for 83 minutes while his teammate at club and international level Kelechi Iheanacho entered the game as a substitute in the 62nd minute, replacing Jamie Vardy.
The Italian club took the lead in the fifteenth minute as Lorenzo Pellegrini with a low drive beat the Foxes goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel,
Gianluca Mancini's own goal off a deflection from Lookman's effort midway through the second half cancelled out Roma's opener.
Iheanacho had a chance to net the winner in the 78th minute when he curled a left-footed effort that somehow Rui Patrício managed to claw wide at the last moment.
Tonight's draw may not have given Brendan Rodgers’ side an advantage but they go into the second leg clash at the Stadio Olimpico in seven days' time on a level footing.
