Report : Chelsea to have a say in whether Man Utd can beat Arsenal to 16-goal Nigerian striker
Published: April 29, 2022
According to Football.London making reference to Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea are set to have a say in whether Manchester United can beat Arsenal to Nigeria international Victor Osimhen.
Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked with a summer move for Osimhen, but the Blues can hand their Premier League rivals a blow in their pursuit of the Napoli number 9, who is seen as a promising striker having scored 16 goals in all competitions so far this season.
It is claimed that Napoli have identified the attacker to replace Osimhen should he be sold to a Premier League club, Chelsea loanee Armando Broja.
But Napoli signing the Albania international won't be easy as manager Thomas Tuchel is set to make a decision on the player's future at the end of the season.
Broja has impressed on loan at Southampton with nine goals in 35 outings, so there's a possibility of Chelsea retaining his services for the 2022-2023 campaign and if that were to happen it could scupper the Red Devils and Gunners move for Osimhen.
Osimhen's deal expires on June 30, 2025 and it has been suggested that Napoli would be willing to listen to offers in excess of 100 million euros.
The 23-year-old became the most expensive African-born player in history when he joined the Parthenopeans from Lille in exchange for 70 million euros.
