Shoretire battles Ronaldo, six others for Manchester United Goal of the Month for April
Published: May 01, 2022
Shola Shoretire's brilliant strike against Leicester City U23s is a contender for Manchester United's Goal of the Month for April 2022, informs the official website of the Red Devils.
Against the Foxes on April 4 in the Premier League 2, the England youth international of Nigerian descent was the quickest to react and acrobatically slotted home after
Hannibal's effort was blocked in the 70th minute.
Shoretire's acrobatic effort is one of eleven goals shortlisted for the monthly accolade but has a tough task on his hands to win the award, with Cristiano Ronaldo nominated for the Goal of the Month three times for his goals against Norwich City, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Also nominated for the award are strikes by Fred, Leah Galton, Ethan Ennis (2), Noah Emeran, Samuel Mather and
Charlie McNeill.
Charlie McNeill.
Shoretire was an influential player for the Manchester United side that finished fifth in this season's Premier League 2, scoring six goals and setting up his teammates on eight occasions.
Should he win the Goal of the Month for April, he will follow in the footsteps of Nigeria national teamer Odion Ighalo who won the award for March 2020.
