'A thing of beauty' - 1994 AFCON winner lauds Son for stunning goal vs Leicester City
Published: May 02, 2022
Tottenham Hotspur boosted their chances of finishing fourth in the Premier League after thrashing Leicester City 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, with Heung-min Son scoring arguably the pick of the goals in the second half.
Harry Kane gave the north London club the lead in the 22nd minute, heading home from a corner by Son and the South Korean took center stage after halftime, scoring his eighteen and nineteenth goals of the 2021-2022 season.
1994 Africa Cup of Nation winner with the Super Eagles, Efan Ekoku, who was on commentary duties for the Premier League world feed, noted that Son's second goal in the 79th minute was outstanding.
The Tottenham Hotspur number 7 curled the ball over Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel from outside the box.
Shortly after Son's goal, Ekoku said : "That was just gorgeous. Youri Tielemans gets closest to him but once he angles
himself and shoots into the far corner, Schmeichel is just going to hope that he gets it wrong, wide over the crossbar or anything, but that is a thing of beauty."
Leicester City got some reward in second half stoppage time when Kelechi Iheanacho was able to beat Hugo Lloris with a brilliant strike of his own.
