'It was a very good strike' - Foxes boss Rodgers discusses Iheanacho's goal vs Tottenham
Published: May 02, 2022
Kelechi Iheanacho received praise from Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers despite the Foxes' 3-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Heung-min Son, with an excellent shot from outside the box, put the game beyond Leicester City's reach in the 79th minute but Iheanacho grabbed a consolation in stoppage time.
The Nigeria international reduced the deficit by sweeping a low effort inside the near post.
Rodgers labelled Iheanacho's goal 'a very good goal', before going on to praise the work rate of the number 14, who was picked in the starting lineup ahead of fit again Jamie Vardy, ahead of Thursday's Europa Conference League seminal second leg clash at AS Roma.
"It was a very good strike and a very good goal," Rodgers said to Leicester City's official website.
"He caused them a problem. He lost one or two balls which he can be better with, but overall, he kept fighting and running. It was a very, very good goal."
Iheanacho has been involved in seventeen goals this season, including nine (4 goals, 5 assists) in the Premier League.
The former Manchester City striker has bagged three career goals against Spurs with two coming in the colours of Leicester City.
