2004-born defender of Nigerian descent inching closer to Arsenal first team debut

2004-born central defender of Nigerian descent Zach Awe is inching closer to a senior debut for Premier League side Arsenal.
The Hale End Academy graduate has been spotted training with the Gunners first team players several times this season and was also involved in first team training during pre-season preparations.
According to Arsenal youth team guru Jeorge Bird, Awe trained with the first team again on Saturday, October 15 - the final training session before their trip to Elland Road to face Leeds United.
Awe was not included in the squad against Leeds United, with manager Mikel Arteta picking Takehiro Tomiyasu, Gabriel Magalhães, William Saliba, Ben White, Kieran Tierney and Cédric Soares as the defenders in the matchday 20.
With Arsenal almost guaranteed a spot in the knockout rounds of the Europa League, needing one point from their remaining three games to progress, Awe could be an option for the Spanish football tactician in upcoming dead rubber games in Group A.
The 18-year-old has received one call up for a first team game, against Wolverhampton Wanderers in February 2022.
Awe has been one of the standout players for Arsenal's development squad this term, starting all their matches in the Premier League and helping them remain undefeated.
