Former Liverpool striker Awoniyi reacts after making injury comeback for Nottingham Forest
Published: April 02, 2023
Taiwo Awoniyi made his comeback from injury as Nottingham Forest were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolverhampton Wanderers in a Premier League game at the City Ground on Saturday, April 1.
The former Liverpool striker had not figured for Nottingham Forest since January 4 before the visit of Wolves.
Awoniyi was recovering from a groin problem that kept him sidelined for about three months.
He made his comeback from injury against Wolverhampton Wanderers, playing the last four minutes after coming off the bench to replace Danilo.
The 2013 U17 World Cup winner was unavailable for selection in thirteen matches on the bounce due to the ailment - nine in the Premier League, another three in the Carabao Cup, and the FA Cup meeting with Blackpool.
In Awoniyi's absence, Brennan Johnson took up the goalscoring mantle and he didn't disappoint, scoring five goals in nine league matches before the clash against Wolves.
Reacting to his comeback, Awoniyi posted on social media on Saturday evening : "Back at it again".
Awoniyi was decisive before his spell on the sidelines, scoring match-winning goals against West Ham United, Liverpool and Southampton.
