Eze voted Crystal Palace MOTM in Hodgson's first game back as Eagles boss
Published: April 03, 2023Crystal Palace returned to winning ways at the weekend in Roy Hodgson's first game back as the Eagles boss, beating relegation threatened Leicester City 2-1 at Selhurst Park.
The Foxes' hierarchy reacted after the defeat, the club's fifth in six Premier League matches, by reaching a mutual agreement with Brendan Rodgers that will see him leave the King Power Stadium after four years.
Hodgson named two former Super Eagles invitees in the shape of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise in the starting lineup against Leicester City, with both going the distance.
Eze was one of Palace's key figures and proved instrumental in the club clinching their seventh win of the season but their first in 2023.
Halftime substitute Ricardo Pereira gave the visitors the lead with an unstoppable strike in the 56th minute, only for the Eagles to restore parity three minutes later.
Eze's free-kick hit the underside of the bar before bouncing back off the Foxes goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
The Anglo-Nigerian attacking midfielder was recognized for his efforts against Leicester City, with Crystal Palace supporters voting him the Mukuru Man of the Match.
Eze came out on top with 69.5 percent of the vote, ahead of match-winner Jean-Philippe Mateta (8.7%) and in third place was Jeff Schlupp (4.7%).
France U21 international Olise finished joint fourth with three percent of the vote, along with Guéhi.
