Chukwuemeka involved in Chelsea's training session ahead of UCL clash v Real Madrid
Published: April 17, 2023Through their official website, Chelsea have confirmed that England U20 international of Nigerian descent Carney Chukwuemeka was among the group of players who trained at Cobham on Monday morning ahead of their UEFA Champions League showdown with reigning champions Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues' players stepped up preparations for the second leg as they aim to overturn a two-goal deficit on Tuesday night.
And it remains to be seen whether or not Chukwuemeka will return to the match day squad after sitting out four consecutive matches due to a knock he picked up in training.
The talented teenager wasn't available for selection against Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brighton & Hove in the Premier League, and was also left out of the traveling party to Madrid for the first leg as he was still recovering from the ailment.
Chelsea have provided a positive injury update on Chukwuemeka, stating that the central midfielder was out on the grass on Monday morning.
Caretaker boss Frank Lampard is expected to provide a fitness update on his squad when he addresses the media at the pre-match press conference at Stamford Bridge as from 1500 hours today.
Chukwuemeka has received six call-ups for Champions League games this season but was not utilized off the bench.
