'Something that I've never experienced' - Sulaiman admits he's enjoying being Chelsea U18s boss
Published: April 18, 2023
Nigerian football tactician Hassan Sulaiman has admitted that he's enjoying being head coach of Chelsea U18s.
Sulaiman stepped up to take charge of Chelsea U18s in March, having previously coached the U16 side.
He has been part of the set-up in the Chelsea Academy since 2008, climbing through the coaching ranks and taking on a number of roles with various age groups.
Chelsea U18s are on a good run of form currently, having won their last three games in the U18 Premier League, scoring twelve goals while conceding three.
Sharing his thoughts on how he has settled into his new role as Chelsea U18s head coach, he told the club's official website : "Taking over a team during the middle of a season is something that I have never experienced but over this short period, I have learnt that it is important to familiarise yourself with the working process as quickly as possible.
"I have really enjoyed my time so far in the position of head coach. The youth team staff have been extremely supportive.
"The coaches had already been doing some great work, so it was just a case of adding to the work that they were already doing."
Four matches to the end of the season, Chelsea occupy fifth position in the standings with 32 points from eighteen matches played.
Sulaiman concluded by urging his players to finish the season strongly and to be physically dominant in every game.
Five players of Nigerian descent Somto Boniface, Louis Flower, Tudor Mendel-Idowu, Saheed Olagunju and Chinonso Chibueze have played for Chelsea U18s this season.
