'It didn't look great' - Leicester boss provides worrying injury update on Iheanacho
Published: April 26, 2023Leicester City manager Dean Smith provided a worrying injury update on Kelechi Iheanacho after his side's 1-1 draw with Leeds United on Wednesday, but stressed that the full extent of the injury suffered by the Nigeria national teamer is yet to be determined.
Iheanacho played a key part as the Foxes came from behind to salvage a point at Elland Road.
Despite feeling pains in his groin, the Super Eagles star kept his composure and showed awareness as he diverted the ball to James Maddison, who teed up Jamie Vardy for the equalizer in the 80th minute.
Iheanacho was clearly hurt in the build-up to Vardy's goal and he was immediately replaced by Dennis Praet.
Smith has revealed that he is waiting on scan results before diagnosing any injury.
"It's too soon. He felt his groin and it didn’t look great, so we’ll have to wait until we get a scan on it," Smith told LCFC TV post-match.
Iheanacho has found the net in two of his last three matches in the Premier League to take his goal involvements for the season to twelve.
Leicester City are back in Premier League action on Monday, May 1 when they face Alex Iwobi's Everton in a relegation six-pointer at the King Power Stadium.
