Three reasons Balogun should reject PL clubs, RB Leipzig, other suitors for AC Milan
Published: April 26, 2023Arsenal-owned striker Folarin Balogun has been linked with a permanent departure from boyhood club Arsenal permanently this summer unless he is guaranteed enough playing time for next season, which looks unlikely at this stage.
Balogun is on loan at Stade de Reims in the French Ligue 1 this season and has been exceptional in front of goal, scoring 18 goals and registering two assists in the league.
With the proficiency the 21-year-old has shown in front of goal and his reported interest in ending his 15-year relationship with Arsenal, several clubs are ready to capture his signature.
AC Milan, RB Leipzig, Marseille as well as Everton, Brentford, Crystal Palace, and Wolverhampton Wanderers have all been credited with an interest in the England U21 international of Nigerian descent.
This does raise the question, where is his best destination?
Balogun has proven his ability in front of goal with Reims and needs to move to a club where he can continue to grow, whose ambition is bigger than his previous club, and where playing time is guaranteed.
The best club that serves the bill among his suitors is AC Milan.
Below are three reasons why he should head to the San Siro
1. If Balogun wants to take his game to the next level, fight for individual laurels and win trophies, AC Milan should be his destination. The Rossoneri are back among European elites after several years of mediocrity.
They are the defending champions of Seria A and are in the semifinals of this year's UEFA Champions League. As such, Balogun stands a very good chance of winning trophies if he joins them.
2. Balogun will get to play with better players at AC Milan than the rest of his suitors. The red half of Milan have quality players like Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez, Brahim Diaz, Sandro Tonali and Olivier Giroud in their ranks.
Playing with an experienced striker like Giroud will help him improve his game while being on the pitch with Leao, Diaz, and Hernandez will allow him to score more goals.
3. Balogun will also get enough game time if he joins the Italian outfit if you take a careful look at the club's striking options at the moment.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic's contract ends in the summer, and Olivier Giroud cannot be trusted to lead the line regularly having scored just 8 league goals this season while Divock Origi has failed to sparkle since joining from Liverpool.
In conclusion, the Hale End Academy product must get his next move right because that could make or mar his career and with the options available to him, AC Milan should be his next destination.
