Hodgson expects big clubs to be interested in Olise amid winger's links with Arsenal, PSG
Published: May 01, 2023
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has predicted that big clubs will be interested in Michael Olise in the summer transfer window.
The 2021 Super Eagles invitee has impressed this season, with a goal involvement of eleven in thirty three appearances in the Premier League.
Olise provided his ninth assist of the season on Saturday as Crystal Palace beat West Ham United 4-3 in a Premier League thriller at Selhurst Park.
Only three players namely Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) and Leandro Trossard (Arsenal) have provided more assists than Olise in the Premier League this season, and he is the top assists provider among players outside the traditional big six.
Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Olise, and the winger has also been linked with a move to Ligue 1 moneybags Paris Saint-Germain as a potential replacement for either Lionel Messi or Neymar.
In March, Hodgson was appointed manager of Crystal Palace until the end of the season, taking over from the dismissed Patrick Vieira, who had sanctioned the transfer of Olise from Reading in the summer of 2021.
Hodgson revealed that Palace boss Steve Parish should be braced for offers for Olise.
"I was Steve Parish I would be (worried). But I'm Roy Hodgson for the next few weeks and I wish them all well," Hodgson was quoted as saying by The Daly Mail UK.
"I don't have any conversations regarding contracts and what the club wants to do.
"If ever they need an opinion from me I know they'll ask for it but I certainly won't be proferring it."
A France U21 international, Olise has a contract with Crystal Palace until at least the end of the 2025-2026 season.
