Madueke immensely proud after first PL goal, has a message for Chelsea fans
Published: May 03, 2023Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has taken to social media to share his thoughts after scoring his first goal for the club in their 3-1 loss to Arsenal in a Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.
Madueke got his goal in the 65th minute when he received a pass from Mateo Kovacic, having made a run behind the Arsenal defence before putting the ball in the bottom corner.
Maduke joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in the winter transfer window and has had a rough start to his career at the London-based club.
The Super Eagles-eligible player failed to get adequate game time under Chelsea's former manager Graham Potter, starting only two Premier League games and coming on as a substitute on three occasions.
When Blues interim manager Frank Lampard arrived, Maduke failed to make the match-day squad in his first two games before playing his first game under the Chelsea legend in a 2-0 defeat to Brentford.
The England-U21 star got his first start under Lampard in last night's match against Arsenal and was on the pitch for 79 minutes.
While reacting to his first goal for Chelsea, the 21-year-old wrote on his social media handle
"Immensely proud every time I look down at the crest on my chest. We appreciate the support from you guys even in the most frustrating of times. We will rise with Godspeed".
Madueke will be hoping to get more game time from now, having registered his first goal against top opposition like Arsenal.
