Flying Eagles-eligible winger nominated for Chelsea Goal of the Month
Published: May 04, 2023Flying Eagles-eligible winger Tyrique George has been shortlisted for Chelsea's Goal of the Month award for April 2023.
George, who has played nonbinding games for England at U16 and U17 levels, has been nominated for his brilliant strike against Crystal Palace in an U18 Premier League match on April 22.
His goal brought the home team back into the game and ensured Chelsea U18s, who are coached by a Nigerian Hassan Sulaiman, extended their unbeaten run to five games in the U18 Premier League.
In the 63rd minute, the Anglo-Nigerian was 35 yards away from goal when he unleashed an unstoppable shot that flew past goalkeeper Izquierdo and into the top corner.
Also nominated for Chelsea's April Goal of the Month award are Women's duo Sam Kerr and Guro Reiten, plus academy stars Kiano Dyer and Ben Elliott.
George is aiming to became the second Chelsea youth teamer to win the Goal of the Month award this season after Cesare Casadei, who is currently on loan at Reading.
The other winners of Chelsea's Goal of the Month award in 2022-2023 are Kalidou Koulibaly, Ben Chilwell, Conor Gallagher, Mason Mount, Sam Kerr, Lauren James and Kai Havertz.
George was also on target in his last game for Chelsea U18s, against Brighton on April 29,but the goal has not made the shortlist.
