Flying Eagles-eligible striker on target for Chelsea youth team in win against Wolfsburg
Published: May 10, 2023Chelsea's U18 squad have traveled to Germany for end-of-season friendlies against VfL Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig.
According to Blues youth team insider Chelsea Youth, Chelsea beat Wolfsburg in their first game on Wednesday afternoon, with Flying Eagles-eligible striker, Louis Flower getting on the scoresheet for the Londoners.
Donnell McNeilly scored Chelsea's other goal as they ran away 2-1 winners against the German opponents.
On Saturday, Chelsea will face RB Leipzig who have in their youth team ranks two players of Nigerian descent in Chilohem Onuoha and Winners Osawe.
Hassan Sulaiman's boys finished fourth in this season's U18 Premier League and as a result the U19s will not be participating in the UEFA Youth League next term.
Flower has been at Chelsea since U13 level after joining from Cambridge United and signed his first professional contract in October 2021, a deal that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until June 30, 2024.
The 18-year-old finished the season strongly, registering nine goal involvements (6 goals, 3 assists) in his last eleven games in the U18 Premier League.
Flower will not be age-eligible for Chelsea U18s in 2023-2024 and will be promoted to the development squad.
