Official : Two former Man Utd schoolboys of Nigerian descent released by Derby County
Published: May 11, 2023
Through their official website, League One club Derby County have announced their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2022-2023 regular season.
The Rams will not be making an immediate return to the Championship after narrowly missing out on a playoff spot.
Two former Manchester United schoolboys of Nigerian descent Olamide Ibrahim and Osazee Aghatise have not been offered new deals and will be leaving Derby County upon the expiration of their contracts on June 30, 2023.
Owen Oseni, who joined Derby County in February, remains contracted to the club.
Ibrahim joined Derby County on a scholarship deal and made his professional debut in an Emirates FA Cup third round tie with Chorley in January 2021 and his other squad involvement was against Preston North End in a League Cup fixture in September 2020.
Aghatise also joined the Rams on a scholarship deal, rising through the ranks before making his senior debut against Millwall in the Championship in November 2021.
Meanwhile, former Arsenal youth teamer Adebayo Fapetu has come to the end of his scholarship and will be stepping up to the development squad on a fulltime basis next season.
