Flying Eagles squad numbers : AC Milan starlet handed no. 10 shirt worn by Etim Esin, Iheanacho
Published: May 13, 2023FIFA has revealed the squad numbers the Flying Eagles players will wear at the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup which begins in Argentina next weekend.
Nigeria U20 head coach Ladan Bosso has given the number 1 jersey to Nathaniel Nwosu even though the Water FC glovesman is unlikely to be the first choice goalkeeper in Argentina.
Super Eagles invitee for the AFCONQ against Guinea Bissau, Kingsley Aniagboso will again wear number 21.
Augustine Njoku, Solomon Agbalaka, Daniel Daga, Abel Ogwuche, Daniel Bameyi, Haliru Sarki, Ibrahim Muhammad, Benjamin Fredrick, Sunday Jude and Samson Lawal will wear the numbers 2,3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 15, 18 just as they did during the 2023 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
Meanwhile, the iconic number 10 shirt has been assigned to AC Milan starlet Victor Eletu - a shirt previously worn by unarguably the most skillful Nigerian player to grace the FIFA U20 World Cup, Etim Esin, who donned it in 1987.
In previous editions of the FIFA U20 World Cup, talented players such as Kelechi Iheanacho (2015), Solomon Owello (2007), Obabaifo Osaro (1985) and Rabiu Ibrahim (2009) have all won the number 10 at the back of their jerseys.
