Arsenal striker picks United States over Super Eagles, Three Lions

Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun has decided to change his international allegiance from England to the United States.

Born in New York City, the Hale End Academy graduate also qualified for a third country, Nigeria, through his parents.

According to a top source close to the player's camp, Fabrizio Romano, Balogun will switch allegiance to the United States and the Italian transfer market expert added that the striker took his time to make the decision.

Romano claims that an official announcement on Balogun's switch to the United States is imminent.

The 21-year-old has featured for England's youth teams 28 times, including in competitive matches at the 2018 European U17 Championship, which will require him to apply to FIFA for a one-time change of association.

Balogun's decision to represent his country of birth won't come as a surprise to the English Football Association given that he pulled out of the Young Lions squad for the March internationals citing an undisclosed injury, only to be spotted in the United States.

US Soccer previously beat Nigeria to the services of Oguchi Onyewu and Maurice Edu who both represented the Stars and Stripes at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Nigerian-born defender George Bello and West Brom's Daryl Dike are cap-tied to the Americans.
