Preston make contract decisions on Tottenham, Man Utd products of Nigerian descent
Published: May 18, 2023With a statement on their official website, Championship club Preston North End have confirmed their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season.
Decisions have been made on the future of two Nigeria-eligible players in the shape of Tottenham Hotspur-reared central midfielder Joshua Onomah and Manchester United youth team product Matthew Olosunde.
Onomah, whose contract with Preston North End runs out on June 30, 2023, has been offered a new deal to extend hist stay at The Lilywhites, and negotiations are ongoing.
The 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup winner with England appeared in thirteen matches for Preston after joining the club in the January transfer window.
Onomah has a wealth of experience in the Championship with 112 appearances under his belt and a goal involvement of 21 (8 goals, 13 assists).
As for Olosunde, the one-cap United States international will depart Deepdale upon the expiry of his contract on June 30, 2023.
The defender did not play much for Preston North United following his arrival from Rotherham United in 2021, making three appearances in all competitions across two seasons due to injuries.
