Super Eagles camp update: Osayi-Samuel is last player to report for international duty
Published: June 14, 2023
Fenerbahce defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel has arrived at the camp of the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sierra Leone.
Osayi-Samuel arrival completes the list of 23 players invited by Jose Peseiro for the match against Sierra Leone.
With training starting on Monday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, he is expected to resume training as early as possible
The 25-year-old made his debut in Nigeria's 4-0 loss to Portugal in November 2022 and has gone on feature in two more matches for the three-time African champions.
With convincing performances against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau, he has become one of the vital players for Nigeria, establishing himself as the first-choice right back.
It would be surprising if the Turkish-based defender doesn't start against the Leone Stars on Sunday despite his late arrival.
The match between Nigeria and Sierra Leone will hold at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium, Monrovia in Liberia.
Osayi-Samuel has been linked with a departure from Fenerbahce in the summer, with teams in England, Scotland and France credited with an interest in his signature.
