'It will be the best transfer after Osimhen' - Expert urges Galatasaray to sign Man City star
Published: May 10, 2025
Turkish football pundit Ali Ece has called on Galatasaray to push for the signing of Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, declaring that the Portuguese midfielder would be the club’s best transfer in recent years—second only to Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen.
Speaking on the Vole YouTube channel, as reported by habersarikirmizi.com, Ece heaped praise on Silva and emphasized the immediate impact he could make under head coach Okan Buruk.
"Gabriel Sara is being played in both Granit Xhaka and Bernardo Silva’s area by Okan Buruk,” Ece said.
"If Bernardo Silva comes to Galatasaray, he will be the new Dries Mertens. He will be the best transfer Galatasaray has made since Victor Osimhen in the last five years. He will even overshadow Icardi.”
Silva, 30, has been a key figure at Manchester City, known for his intelligence, versatility, and work rate.
Ece believes his experience at the highest level of European football would immediately elevate Galatasaray’s midfield and offer new dimensions in attack.
Galatasaray’s recent transfer strategy has drawn attention, especially with the arrival of Victor Osimhen on loan from Napoli last summer.
The Nigerian striker has been instrumental in the club’s success this season, scoring 33 goals across all competitions and becoming a fan favorite in Istanbul.
Bringing in a player of Silva’s caliber would represent another major statement by the Turkish giants, who are aiming to strengthen their squad ahead of a new domestic and European campaign.
