Osimhen increasing likely to leave Napoli next summer amid interest from Premier League clubs
Published: October 20, 2023
It is looking increasingly likely that Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen will leave Napoli next summer as the Serie A defending champions are considering selling their star forward.
This is a result of a breakdown in talks between him and the Italian outfit regarding extending his current contract which expires in June 2025.
According to Tutto Napoli, the latest meeting between Osimhen's representative Roberto Calenda and the Italian giants' representatives Maurizio Micheli and Mauro Meluso ended in a stalemate as parties failed to agree on terms of the new contract.
The report also stated that Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is not happy with the back-and-forth request of the Nigerian forward representative and that the recent Tiktok video incident is being used as a pretext to renege on their earlier agreed terms.
This collaborates with our earlier report where it was stated that De Laurentiis had hinted that he could sell the star forward next summer citing the case of Kalidou Koulibaly who was sold to Chelsea with a year left on his contract as an example.
It is hoped by Napoli that there will be a bidding war for his services next summer.
Osimhen remains a target for a host of European heavyweights including Manchester United, Chelsea and just recently Liverpool who reportedly sent scouts to watch the Best FIFA Men's Player of the Year Award nominee during the last international break.
