Dessers confesses he is not at his best after fourth goal in Rangers colours
Published: October 21, 2023
Cyriel Dessers has admitted that he is not at his best yet after scoring his fourth goal in Rangers' colours in the Light Blues 4-0 win over Hibernian on Saturday afternoon at the Ibrox Stadium.
It was a brilliant day in the office for the Nigerian striker whose physical presence was too much to handle for the Hibs defence.
He had an impact on two of Rangers' goals, particularly the third goal as it was his blocked shot that led to Abdallah Sima's strike.
The Super Eagles forward finally got his name on the scoresheet in the 79th minute having received a pass from Todd Cantwell before striking the ball into the net from 12 yards out.
Speaking after the encounter, Dessers confessed that he is yet to find his best form when asked about his battle with Hibernian defenders.
In quotes relayed by Daily Record, the 28-year-old said: "That is the thing that I like to do. I'm still growing to my best level.
"I think this was a new step in it. I hope with the new energy in the locker room, with the new staff and the fans we can push on."
The Belgium-born forward's strike today is just his second strike for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership and must be glad to have played well in his first appearance under new manager, Philippe Clement.
