What Slavia Prague said after Igoh Ogbu's inclusion in Nigeria's provisional World Cup squad

Igoh Ogbu is in contention to make his long-awaited senior debut for three-time African champions Nigeria.
Six years after earning his last cap for the Flying Eagles in a 2019 Fifa U20 World Cup match against Senegal, the central defender has been included in the Super Eagles' 39-man provisional squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifying games against Rwanda's Wasps and Zimbabwe's Warriors.
Ogbu is competing with central defenders William Troost-Ekong, Gabriel Osho, Calvin Bassey, Jordan Torunarigha and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi to earn a roster spot
The ex-Nigeria U20 international has been included in the Super Eagles provisional squad following his outstanding performances for Slavia Prague in the Chance Liga.
Slavia Prague extended their congratulations to Ogbu via social media following reports of his likely inclusion in the final squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifying games.
The Czech club posted on Instagram: "Igoh Ogbu earns his first senior @ng_supereagles call-up! Nigeria will face Rwanda and Zimbabwe in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Congratulations, Iggy! We are so proud of you!”
Ogbu has caught the eye since joining Slavia Prague from Norwegian outfit Lillestrom n 2023.
He has made 86 appearances for Slavia Prague, scoring four goals and has an assist to his name.
His previous clubs include Gombe United, Rosenborg, Levanger and Sogndal.
