'They see Osimhen as a saviour' - Turkish pundit says Man Utd fans are buzzing over Nigeria striker
Published: April 30, 2025
Renowned Turkish football pundit Ali Ece has praised Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, describing him as a transformational player capable of leading Galatasaray to new heights.
Speaking on the Vole YouTube channel, Ece said Osimhen’s impact is already being felt during his loan spell at the Turkish giants.
“Galatasaray is being led to victory by Victor Osimhen. Everyone else other than Osimhen is a supporting player. When defenders see Osimhen, they are speechless. I read the comments of Manchester United fans, they see Osimhen as a savior,” Ece was quoted as saying by habersarikirmizi.com.
Osimhen is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, and his performances have drawn admiration both locally and abroad.
The 26-year-old Nigerian international has scored 31 goals and provided eight assists in 36 appearances across all competitions this season — equaling his personal best of 31 goals achieved during Napoli's title-winning 2022–23 Serie A campaign.
Ece drew comparisons between Osimhen and legendary Romanian playmaker Gheorghe Hagi, who joined Galatasaray at the age of 30 and became a club icon.
The pundit noted that having a player of Osimhen’s calibre at a younger age is a major asset.
"Hagi came to Galatasaray at the age of 30. Victor Osimhen coming to Galatasaray at the age of 26 is a very different thing,” he said.
While Galatasaray fans hope the club can make Osimhen’s loan permanent, Ece also pointed to other attacking options should a deal not materialize.
"If Osimhen is not there, the formula of Kolo Muani, Icardi and Morata can lead Galatasaray to success," he added.
Osimhen’s future remains uncertain, with reports of interest from several European clubs.
Regardless of where he plays next season, his current form at Galatasaray has already left a lasting impression.
As the summer transfer window approaches, excitement continues to build in Istanbul.
Whether Galatasaray can keep their star striker or turn to alternatives, one thing is clear: Osimhen's presence has reignited belief among fans — and his reputation as a ‘saviour’ is growing far beyond Turkey.
