'We'll see' - Slavia coach fears Super Eagles invitee Igoh Ogbu has suffered tear in adductor muscle
Published: March 30, 2025
Slavia Prague coach Jindrich Trpisovsky suspects Igoh Ogbu has suffered a tear in the adductor muscle in the groin,
potentially ruling the central defender out for weeks.
Ogbu earned his first call-up to the Super Eagles for a pair of World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe but was not utilized off the bench by manager Eric Chelle.
The 25-year-old was not named in Slavia's travelling squad for the league game against FK Dukla Prague on Saturday.
It has been revealed that the Nigerian was left out of the team due to physical issues, and it is not an injury he can recover from within a week.
Chairman of the Board of Directors Slavia Prague, Jaroslav Tvrdik confirmed that Ogbu faces a spell on the sidelines.
Speaking to reporters at the post-match press conference after his side dropped points against Dukla Prague, manager Jindrich Trpisovsky revealed that Ogbu is set to undergo an MRI scan to determine the extent of the injury.
"I don't have a detailed report yet; he's is going to have an MRI," Trpisovsky was quoted as saying by Slavia's official webpage.
The coach also expressed concerns that the defender might have suffered a tear in the adductor muscle in his groin, an injury that could potentially sideline him for weeks.
"The first predictions are a tear in the adductor muscle in the groin. He was injured like this once and came back in half the time. We'll see after the examination."
Ogbu has been a key figure in Slavia's defensive setup this season, helping the club post sixteen clean sheets in all competitions.
More updates on his recovery timeline are expected once the MRI results are available.
