'It's a test' - Chelsea legend backs Tosin and George to deliver against Nottingham Forest
Published: May 24, 2025
Chelsea legend Pat Nevin has expressed confidence in Nigeria-eligible duo Tosin Adarabioyo and Tyrique George ahead of the Blues' crucial Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Enzo Maresca’s side will travel to the City Ground for their final matchday of the campaign, needing a wi to seal Champions League qualification for next season.
Tosin, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from Fulham on a free transfer, has enjoyed a steady debut season in West London.
The 27-year-old centre-back has registered one goal and one assist across 21 Premier League appearances, offering consistency and composure in defence.
Tyrique George, meanwhile, has impressed in his breakthrough season, notching a goal and an assist in just eight league outings.
The 19-year-old forward was recently named Chelsea’s Men’s Academy Player of the Season, underlining his rapid development.
Speaking to Metro, Nevin praised Tosin’s contributions and hinted that the centre-back could be trusted to partner Levi Colwill in Chelsea’s defensive setup against Forest.
"It always has to be Levi Colwill – but it’s who goes beside him," said Nevin.
"Trevoh Chalobah has been good, Tosin Adarabioyo has come in, various people have done it – and it’s got a bit more stable recently – but this is a test.”
With Nicolas Jackson unavailable for the season finale, Nevin also backed George to take the lead role in attack once more.
"There’s no Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea will probably have the kid (Tyrique George) up front again… It really does make it different."
Both players are expected to named in the matchday squad as Chelsea aim to secure their return to Europe’s elite club competition.
