New Getafe transfer chief to decide future of Unity Cup revelation amid Premier League links
Published: July 03, 2025
Getafe's new sporting director, Toni Muñoz, is poised to decide the future of Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche, amid rising speculation about a potential move to the Premier League ahead of the 2025/26 season, according to Estadio Deportivo.
Uche emerged as one of Getafe's standout performers last season, contributing four goals and six assists in 33 La Liga appearances.
On the international stage, the versatile midfielder was a revelation at the 2025 Unity Cup, marking his debut by scoring the match-winning penalty in the final against Jamaica, and following it up with an impressive performance in a friendly against Russia on June 6.
Despite Getafe's late-season collapse that saw them miss out on European qualification, Uche remained a bright spark in José Bordalás' squad.
Although Uche has been linked with several Premier League clubs, his agent, Peter Ejiasi, told allnigeriasoccer.com last month that the midfielder is happy at Getafe.
Muñoz — who recently took charge of sporting operations — is prioritizing squad development and financial stability.
As such, Uche's future will be one of the key decisions this summer, especially with the club needing to remain compliant with Financial Fair Play regulations.
Signed for just €500,000 from AD Ceuta, Uche is now valued at approximately €15 million — a potential windfall for the Madrid-based side.
Getafe may be tempted to cash in on the Nigerian international, whose stock continues to rise both domestically and abroad.
