Preston North End on brink of deal for 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee
Published: July 03, 2025
Brighton and Hove Albion defender Odel Offiah is close to a transfer to Preston North End, according to reporter Richard Cawley.
Born in London, Offiah remains open to representing Nigeria at international level, having previously trained with the Golden Eaglets ahead of the 2019 Fifa U17 World Cup, although he ultimately missed out on a place in the squad that travelled to Brazil.
Offiah's transfer to the Championship side is reported to be a permanent deal after spending last season on loan with club rival Blackpool.
He made his full Premier League debut for Brighton against Bournemouth just over a year ago, on 28 April, 2024.
Offiah is a versatile defender who can play anywhere across the backline.
There was also interest in the 22-year-old from Charlton Athletic, who recently secured promotion to the EFL Championship, as they looked to land his signature.
However, the ex-Blackpool loanee seems poised for a move to Preston, with just a year left on his contract.
Preston are keen to fill the space left by academy graduate Kian Best after he was snapped up on a free by Chelsea.
Offiah was key during his stay with the Seasiders last season, helping them to a ninth-place finish in the third tier of English football.
He featured in 42 games for Blackpool across all competitions and also contributed to the other end of the field with a goal and an assist.
