After trials at Arsenal, Spurs and Wolves, Akaunu joins Bournemouth from Liverpool Academy
Published: July 05, 2025
Premier League club Bournemouth have officially announced the new intake of first year scholars for the 2025-2026 season.
A total of 13 players, including six external signings, are set to link up with James Lowy's U18 squad ahead of the new season.
Among the external signings is Nigeria-eligible forward Kobaro Akaunu, who has joined Bournemouth from the Liverpool academy.
Akaunu has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Cherries, valid until June 30, 2027.
In the summer of 2017, Akaunu was among twenty-one U9 players who officially joined Liverpool's academy, with club icon Steven Gerrard in attendance at the signing ceremony.
At the back end of last season, the attacker trialed with Wolverhampton Wanderers, featuring for the U16s in a test game in March and appearing on the bench later that day as the U18s defeated Nottingham Forest in the U18 Premier League.
Before training with Wolves youth teams, he was assessed by north London clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
Akaunu will be hoping to make his first competitive appearance for Bournemouth U18s on August 9 when they begin their Professional Development League South Group season.
