Through the club's official website, Nottingham Forest have confirmed that Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has signed a new contract, keeping him at the City Ground until the summer of 2028.
Aina, 28, played a crucial role in Forest’s impressive 2024/25 Premier League campaign, starting 35 out of 38 league matches.
While he spent much of the previous season at left-back, the Nigerian international was predominantly deployed on the right side of Forest’s defence, showcasing his versatility and consistency.
His defensive contributions were remarkable, as he won possession in the defensive third more times than any other player across Europe’s top five leagues last season.
Adding to his defensive solidity, Aina also chipped in offensively, scoring two goals, including a memorable left-footed strike during Forest’s 3-0 victory over West Ham United at the City Ground.
His performances were instrumental in helping Forest secure a commendable seventh-place finish in the Premier League.
Having joined Forest from Serie A side Torino in the summer of 2023, Aina has made 59 appearances in all competitions for the Reds.
With 102 appearances in Italy’s top flight and now just nine matches away from reaching a century in the Premier League, Aina brings significant experience to the squad.
Internationally, he is also closing in on another milestone, needing four more caps to hit 50 appearances for the Nigerian national team.
Speaking on his contract extension, Aina expressed his excitement: "I’m over the moon, I can’t wait to continue this journey with the Club. It’s always felt like a home ever since I joined and I’m happy to be here.
"Now my focus is on preparing for the new season well and getting back to hard work."
Aina's new deal is both recognition of his outstanding performances and a chance to continue his remarkable journey with the Reds.
